Basic Automotive Tire Service (BATS) Practice Test

Inflating the tires to the pressure listed on the placard is the best practice when the tire placard does not provide specific information for a light load inflation pressure and its corresponding load capacity. The placard contains the manufacturer's recommended tire pressures for various load levels, and adhering to these recommendations ensures optimal tire performance, safety, and fuel efficiency.

Using the specified pressure helps maintain tire integrity and prevents issues such as uneven wear, reduced traction, or compromised handling. It also ensures that the vehicle complies with safety standards and performs as intended under normal driving conditions.

While consulting a tire professional might be beneficial in some situations, directly following the vehicle's placard guidelines is the most reliable and immediate course of action for ensuring the tires are correctly inflated.
